It seems like only yesterday that John Kerry lost the election to George W. Bush. That was one of the most depressing days of my life. But here we are at the end of George Bushes term and just as predicted he has been a lame duck president and drove this country further into the ground - domestically and internationally and in the process has stripped us of many of our rights. Now we have a candidate that is offering CHANGE and HOPE. And we have a guy who I believe is more out of touch with reality than George Bush (if that is at all possible).

By now most of you have made up your minds on who you are going to vote for. Of course there are also those bunch of folks out there who could care less and are going to ride this one out like all of the elections of years past (to me these people are losers and for the next four years they have to shut the fuck up and keep their opinions to themselves because they had a chance once again to make a difference, but they chose instead not to do anything - so suck it up when things don't go your way). If you have the right to vote and are eligible to do so but choose not to then that's fine ... but I don't want to hear jack shit come out of your mouth about politics or the economy or the state of your current affairs. You just like to whine for whining sake and are not interested in solutions ... you are only interested in the sound of your own shrill voice.

And for those of you folks out there who are anti-ALL government (whether you're a band, a group, or an individual) and believe that there is no point in participating in this democracy and there is no difference between Obama and McCain and the man behind the curtain controls all - grow up and get a life!

If you really believe that nothing you do by participating in this system can make a difference then why are you still living here? Go to some other country that you believe in and make things happen. I myself have been cynical of the political process in the past and I believe in many things that would frighten some people (what others call 'conspiracy theories'), but why would I continue to live in a country that I believe could never be changed democratically. Some dummy on MySpace several weeks ago posted some nonsense about "Obama and McCain are the same, there's no point in voting for either one because the American system is rigged and no matter what the outcome will be the same, blah, blah, blah." I will never understand people like this. I am not so naive to believe that there aren't unseen powers lurking in the shadows of this government or any government for that fact that pull strings for certain things to happen. I am also not naive to the fact that this system of government is broken in some areas and some things are outdated and need revamping - like the fact that EVERYTHING in this country always comes down to money.

As a matter of fact we have experienced good examples of this broken and selfish government for the last 8 years, so now you have a chance to CHANGE it, unless you're talking about participating in a violent up-rising or a bloody revolution and starting over from scratch. If you aren't down with either one of those things, then shut the fuck up. You either vote, plot to overthrow the government, or admit that you really don't give a fuck about nothing and don't care who runs your country or your state, or your city. Again, that's okay if you take that position ... I just don't want to hear you complaining about gas prices, the economy, minimum wage, school tuition, school - period, neighborhood crime, unemployment, immigration, your children's bleak future, etc, etc. It's just sad and pathetic when more people voted for American Idol in 2004 than they did for the next president. Naturally, it's typically young people who engage in this reckless behavior - the ones with the most to lose. Older people always vote, they have less to lose - go figure?

Then there are the "undecided voters" who despite all the debates, political ads, and campaigns still have managed not to know who they want to vote for. I personally don't believe these people exist, and if they do I believe they are retarded. I think that they know Bush and the republican party have led this country down a very treacherous road and have damaged American both domestically and internationally and they know that McCain will be a continuation of these policies but they can't admit PUBLICALLY that they are so stubborn that they still want to vote for a continuation of failure. They are ashamed of admitting their stubbornness and rightly so.

Then there are the right-leaning people who acknowledge that Bush and the republicans have committed the above offense's and they know that it would be stupid to commit the same folly for a third time but can't openly say they are going to vote for Obama, because he's 'liberal' or black, or whatever. Heck, I believe there are some traditionally right-leaning white folks who are going to vote for Obama secretly just so they get the opportunity to participate in history. But you would never be able to get them to admit it.

Do I believe Obama is the second coming and will fix all of our woes with the wave of his magic hand? No. I don't. First of all I'm not religious so I don't believe in the second coming of anything and second all leaders have flaws. However, I do believe he is what this country has needed for a long time and the time has come, especially after King George the 2nd. Everywhere I turn there has been an amazing bunch of people who have been circulating propaganda and hate material on why you shouldn't vote for Obama. I have yet to see one instance where they have outlined a REAL reason or case on why you shouldn't vote for him, except that he is NOT a Washington Insider. What they call 'experience'. I don't think republicans comprehend this is one of the main reasons Obama has attracted so many people. Because he IS new and fresh. Not the same ol' boy from the good ol' boys club also known as the grand old party. I only see smears and name calling and outright lies about the man.

For instance, there are still people who are 'convinced' that he is a Muslim. I strongly believe these people are racist or retarded or both. And don't tell me they are misinformed, because any second grader knows how to get on the internet and retrieve information. After all we are in the information technology age. The information is out there. If you can find out who Miley Cyrus is fucking then you can find out information on Obama's religion. If you don't want to hear it then that just proves that you are happy being ignorant and would rather cling to hate than knowledge. So if the information is out there that he is NOT a muslim, and he has on more than one occasion clarified that he is NOT a muslim, to me it just seems that you are not really trying to say he is a muslim, you are using code talk to say he is something else. The word starts with 'N'. Which brings me to, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH BEING A MUSLIM. Although Obama is NOT A MUSLIM, if he were so fuckin' what? Does that equal evil by default? As I stated, it's racism either way you slice it. It's as preposterous as when McCain grabbed the microphone out of that crazy woman's hand when she called Obama a muslim, "no ma'am, he's not a muslim ... he's a good man." Right on Senator McCain, thanks for clarifying that if Obama were muslim he would be a bad man. Go figure!

Obama IS NOT A SOCIALIST! And if he were so fuckin' what? When did socialism become such a bad word? I think a lot of people confuse socialism with communism. They are two completely different things. All of the developed nations in the world are either socialist democracies or pseudo socialist governments. It seems to me IF Obama were a 'socialist' then he'd be a social democrat, which is what I would consider myself. Social democrats propose SELECTIVE nationalization of KEY national industries in mixed economies combined with tax-funded welfare programs like UNIVERSAL HEALTH-CARE. And that doesn't mean that you would have to have government run health-care dummies that just means if you can't afford health-care it will be provided to you that way if you get sick your only option isn't to die. If you want to continue paying and you got it like that then by all means continue on your merry way. It would be much better than the corporate run health-care that is currently 'provided.' It's just sickening and maddening that this is even still an issue in America. Just as gay people having the right to get married is a no-brainer (at least for me and my wife). Equality is equality. Rights are rights. Anything less is treating someone as a second class citizen. And that's not a true democracy, but there are still people who are debating this. What you need to do is worry about fascism, which is what the neo-cons have been establishing for the last 8 years and what John McCain wants to further build upon in the country. But no one wants to talk about that. Neoconservatives align themselves with mainstream conservative values, such as the 'free market', limited welfare, and traditional cultural values. Their key distinction is in international affairs, where they prefer an 'interventionist' approach that seeks to defend national interests.

In twenty-first century America, many thoughtful persons have witnessed what appears to be a recycling of the events of pre-World War II Germany: the destruction of a prominent national structure (the World Trade Center); rushed 'emergency' legislation (the Patriot Act & Bush Doctrine); the rise of a secretive national security apparatus (The Department of Homeland Security); attempts to register both firearms and people (national ID card & mandatory passports with RFID chips to travel, GPS devices, etc), coupled with preemptive wars of aggression (Iraq & Afghanistan) propelled by fervent nationalism (don't forget to wear your armband, I mean, flag lapel pin). This may be simply a coincidence, some synchronistic cycle of history. But this also may be a covert plan being carried out by individuals following a definite agenda. It is the basis for a 'new world order' mentioned by both Hitler and former president George H.W. Bush.

Anyhow, McCain and friends can't call anyone a socialist when he and the republican party lead by Comrade Bush just REDISTRIBUTED wealth and bailed out: Bear Stearns, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, AIG (American International Group), PLUS gave an additional $700 billion to purchase distressed assets, especially mortgage-backed securities, from the nation's banks. Oh, and by the way folks, YOU PAYED FOR THAT. Yep, your tax dollars where taken from you and REDISTRIBUTED to corporations who couldn't manage their business' right, some of which where down right greedy. While the CEO's of some of those companies got bonuses in the millions you picked up the tab for their failing business' while most American's are losing their houses and jobs. But Bush and friends said, "oh shit, the economies failing ... lets take hard working folks money and save the corporations. While we're at it we'll throw in a few stimulus checks for the proletarian's (that's you - the workers)." So to any moron who tells you Barack is a socialist and he wants to take your money to finance health care, and education, and this country's infrastructure respond with "SO FUCKIN' WHAT?" Remember, it was Bush, the republican party AND John McCain who wanted to privatize social security and put people's social security savings into stocks and 401K type holdings. Had they succeeded older citizens would have lost everything in the last few months of this economic recession. Luckily they didn't succeed. But those are the types of ultra capitalist' programs that McCain supports. Profits above humanity.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around poor folks and "middle class" people who are barely making it, some of them one step away from losing everything - how they could support the republican party. The party that continues to push Fascism. but when a guy like Obama says lets take tax payers money and give them something back in return, these retards get scared. Did I miss something? Yet these are the same weirdos who support the war in Iraq, which cost us roughly $9 billion per month! And what do we get back for that aside from the joy of knowing that we displaced millions of people, created more terrorism, and strengthened nations like Iran, who the Bush administration calls part of the 'axis of evil.' Oh, we did kill Saddam Hussein, who was a very, very, evil man. I just can't figure out at what point the US decided he was evil. After all like Manuel Noriega, Anastasio Somoza, Augusto Pinochet, the Shah of Iran, and many others who have been wicked dictators, the US was all for them as long as they protected their 'interests' but once that ceased to happen, then they become evil dictators. One other thing that burns me up about Iraq is that the perpetrators of 911 are still out there. The US never went after them, instead they invaded a sovereign country for oil, revenge (Bushes & Cheney's) and strategic positioning (it's close to Iran), and lots of corporate money could be made "rebuilding the country." Meanwhile, Al-Qaeda and Co. continue to terrorize the world. If I were one of the family members who lost a loved one on 911 not only would I be pissed, but I would rage a war on this government unlike any that has ever been seen. And I'm not necessarily talking a violent war, I'm talking about lawsuits, public demonstrations, rallying as much support as I could - a truth war. But when Obama said that if he had knowledgeable intelligence that Bin Laden was hiding in Pakistan he would launch an attack IF the government of Pakistan refused to do so, John McCain jumped on that saying, "he's willing to attack an ally of ours." Think about this people. Bush, McCain, and Co. have no interest in catching terrorists or stopping terrorists, they just have "interest" and it ain't regarding the "war on terror" it's regarding the war on profitability. The Bush administration has never had any priority in stopping REAL terrorism, if you believe that then ... well, I can't help you. Google the 'war on drugs' or what's happening in Columbia and see for yourself. And for the pundits who keep saying, "Bush has kept 'US' safe because we haven't had an attack in the last 8 years," bullshit! Yes we have, we had the WORST attack in US history on his clock, it's called 911! Unless we're talking about beyond that point. Much like the Saddam Hussein thing, I guess it just depends on WHEN the puppet masters decide we are doing something. I do not believe in "year zero" – in which everything we knew of the world before could now be dismissed as pre-911 thinking. History is important. It's important because you must learn from your mistakes and try your hardest not to repeat them. John McCain wants to follow in Bush's footsteps. He doesn't believe in learning from history, obviously, he fought in Vietnam.

Bottom line, McCain supported the 'bailout package' so he's a fuckin' socialist too. That point is officially off the table. And he has made it obvious he is also not interested in pursuing REAL terrorists. McCain keeps claiming that "he knows how to catch Osama Bin Laden … he knows where he is." If that's true Senator McCain you should tell president Bush or else you are committing treason. And when you take my money and finance a war that I never agreed with, will never agree with, that is REDISTRIBUTING my wealth. Fuckin' socialist!

The next republican tactic has been Obama's associations. I'm sure you've heard them by now: reverend Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, Rashid Khalid, Acorn? Then you have Sarah Palin saying "he plows around with terrorists."

This guilt by association path is going to be trouble ultimately for the McCain campaign. Keep in mind John McCain's associations with S&L kingpin Charles Keating and other historically tarnished creatures.

We've known for a while that McCain has befriended a convicted felon who advised his supporters on how best to shoot federal officials, used the money of a convicted criminal to help buy a house, befriended a radical anti-Catholic televangelist, befriended a radical anti-American televangelist, was a long-time associate of Charles Keating, and hired for his campaign the publisher of a Confederate nostalgia magazine who has described Nelson Mandela as a "terrorist." We also learned about McCain serving on the board of the extremist U.S. Council for World Freedom, where he worked alongside Iran-Contra figures, and a eugenics researcher studying "white superiority."

McCain sat on the board of a very right wing organization, the U.S. Council for World Freedom, led by a retired Army Maj. General named John Singlaub. The Anti-Defamation League called the CWF's parent organization "a gathering place for racists and anti-Semites."

Other negative associations for McCain are his long-time South Carolina consultant, Richard Quinn, a publisher of a Southern heritage magazine, and John Hagee, a pastor whose endorsement McCain solicited and later rejected. John McCain actively sought the endorsement of Pastor Hagee prior to the Texas primary, without giving two craps about who he was. Both McCain and his allies give speeches (see AIPAC and others) with Pastor Hagee.

Then there's McCains Buddy Gordon Liddy and McCain's association with Sarah Palin and her association with the Alaska Independence Party. Does Sarah really support the US if she supports Alaska independence? What does this say about McCains loyalties.

What about McCain's collaboration with Hanoi and his Russian interrogators?

McCain's associations, including the McCain campaign touting an endorsement from Leonore Annenberg, who helped created the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, where, wouldn't you know it, Obama and Ayers met. Keith Olbermann recently noted McCain having hooked up with a right-wing hate group called the Oregon Citizens' Alliance, despite warnings McCain received from then-Sen. Mark Hatfield, an Oregon Republican, about the radical nature of the organization.

While hanging out with the group, McCain heard speakers praise -- you guessed it -- domestic terrorists. McCain could have gotten up and left, but didn't.

Since McCain has been talking about tenuous associations lately... well, here's another interesting one that I haven't seen covered anywhere else, as reported by The Anniston Star (AL):

Presidential hopeful John McCain has a connection to a former Alabama state trooper charged with the murder of a man at the height of the civil rights movement, according to documents obtained by The Star.

In the early 1990s, Sen. McCain wrote a letter to the State Department regarding James B. Fowler, who was at the time imprisoned in Thailand on narcotics charges. McCain's State Department letter was dated Nov. 15, 1991. It briefly explains Fowler's situation and asks Assistant Secretary Elizabeth Tamposi of the Office of Consular Affairs to look into his case.

In 2005, The Star published an interview with James B. Fowler who admitted publicly for the first time that he shot Jimmie Lee Jackson during a melee in February 1965 in the west Alabama town of Marion. Fowler insisted it was in self defense.

You should read the whole story because it is a little complicated, but basically this guy - James Fowler - was arrested in Thailand for heroin trafficking and John McCain wrote a letter to the State Department asking what they were doing about it. Why would he care about this guy? As John Fleming reports, they had at least two mutual friends. Fowler was released from Thai prison in 1996 and has since confessed to shooting Jimmie Lee Jackson.

McCain also associates with a drug addict who has a more complicated story than previously revealed. Hurricane Cindy left a lot of damage in her wake. So instead of asking who is the real Barack Obama? We need to be asking … who is the real John McCain? The guy who ran in 2000 or this new cookie-cutter republican who has obviously sold his soul to be president? There is not one new or fresh idea coming from this man. And if you vote for him you are happy with the Bush presidency and would love to see 4 more years of that. If you want true change then its self explanatory. We've given the republicans 8 years to prove there policies and theories and the results are out. We haven't given Barack Obama a chance to see where his ideas would take us. Think about it and please vote tomorrow if you haven't already (for you early voters out there)!!!

Peace, not just as a phrase but in the world.

Hackers Source Magazine Reviews "The Hood" Playas ...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 58px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_G8cYapJKXyc/SQcYnI8wNEI/AAAAAAAAANk/FvOnKk8YQuY/s320/currenthackerbannercolor.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5262201750301979714" />

Issue 25 of Hackers Source Magazine has done a kick-ass review of "The Hood Has Eyez." Some people can't stand him, especially ultra feminists and the conservative types, but regardless of what you may think about him personally I encourage you to go out and see Religulous, if you haven't seen it already that is. And if you have, I encourage you to see it again. I know I sure will.

According to Maher, the title of the film is a mix of the words "religion" and "ridiculous," implying the satirical nature of the documentary that is meant to criticize the concept of religion and the problems it brings about.

A film like this should have been made a long time ago, but their are not many people that would dare touch such a subject matter. Just raising a simple question such as "is there a God?" or "why do you believe what you believe?" can get people so riled up they will be ready to knock your block off. As a filmmaker I dreamt of doing a project of this nature one day, but Maher beat me to it. In the film he raises these sort of questions and many more and goes about trying to find answers to them.

Contrary to what some people who have NOT seen the film might think, it is not disrespectful or blasphemous, and if you are religious it will not offend you by default. It simply poses some questions that people don't seem to want to pose anymore. Especially in dangerous times like this when religious idealism's could draw us into a global war (if that isn't already taking place).

The movie shows that religion has always been a powerful instrument ... one that could serve positive purposes but just as easily could also be used to brainwash, discriminate, ostracize, demonize, and outright kill people or posses them to do things that they normally might not do. It's a tool that blindly makes some people do the most evil things all in the name of God, while providing a perfect cloak from which they could hide behind ... again, God. Maher lets most of his interview subjects explain why they believe what they believe, and through various interviews he lets them show how crazy they are and how crazy religion is, especially when it's taken at face value. Aside from exposing some of the con artist and fraudulent ministers and downright insane lunatics that proport to be religious I like that the film poses one of the biggest questions that no one ever seems to want to answer; "why do YOU believe what you believe?" It has always amazed me how people just believe shit, just cause. But when you press them they can't tell you why they believe what they believe. They often call this tradition. Religulous examines that.

A range of views on the various world religions are explored as Bill Maher travels to numerous religious destinations, such as Jerusalem, the Vatican, and Salt Lake City, interviewing believers from a variety of backgrounds and groups, including Jews for Jesus, Christians, Muslims, polygamists, Satanists, and Hasidic Jews. He travels to Speakers' Corner in Hyde Park, London and satirically preaches Scientology beliefs.

Anyhow, the film is worth checking out. It will get you thinking, that's for sure. I highly recommend it, especially those interested in their futures, not just in heaven, but here on Earth.

Only In America.....

Spread the Stupidity

Only in America......do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to
the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people
can buy cigarettes at the front.

--------------------

Only in America.....do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries,
and a diet coke.

--------------------

Only in America.....do banks leave both doors open and then chain the
pens to the counters.

--------------------

Only in America.....do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the
driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.

--------------------

Only in America......do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in
packages of eight.

--------------------

Only in America.....do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille
lettering.

--------------------

EVER WONDER ...

Why the sun lightens our hair, but darkens
our skin?

--------------------

Why women can't put on mascara with their mouth closed?

--------------------

Why don't you ever see the headline 'Psychic Wins Lottery'?

--------------------

Why is 'abbreviated' such a long word?

--------------------

Why is it that doctors call what they do 'practice'?

--------------------

Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dish-washing liquid
made with real lemons?

--------------------

Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?

--------------------

Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?

--------------------

Why isn't there mouse-flavored cat food?

--------------------

Why do they sterilize the needle for lethal injections?

--------------------

You know that indestructible black box that is used on airplanes? Or some teenager tells me to "check out this band/rapper/group, etc., because it's phat." Usually when I go home and download the song or album I am absolutely amazed at what some people call music today. So I constantly find myself listening to Dr. Dre's The Chronic 1 & 2 over and over, or I anxiously await Tool's or Korn's latest CD or pace back and fourth furiously in anticipation of Big Boi and Andre 3000's latest opus. Basically their is very little new stuff that I listen too, at least from NEW artist. So when something comes out that has talent, thought, and lyrical delivery behind it and of course tight production I feel like I did the first time I removed a girls underwear and got laid. G-r-r-r-reat!

This year has brought me several very interesting albums from 'established' artists as well as brand spanking new stuff from some 'novice' ones.

1. One Day As A Lion by One Day As A Lion

First of all I'd like to say that I am still pissed off that Rage Against The Machine 'broke up,' even though they have been touring together (sort of) in the last year. If there was ever a time we needed Rage's music and activism it would be now. I wasn't thrilled about the Chris Cornell Audio Slave project. I'm not saying it sucked, it just wasn't my sort of thing. Zach de la Rocha has always been one of my favorite lyricist and I have always thought that if he did a straight up hip-hop album it would be tight. He has pissed me off in the past by scrapping a highly anticipated project he was working on with KRS-1 that never produced anything (public at least) aside from one song, because he didn't like it. So when I heard that Zach had a new solo project coming out I said, "yeah fuckin' right." But come out it did and I haven't been able to stop listening to it. I got really exited when I found out that One Day As A Lion was a joint collabo between De la Rocha and Jon Theodore (former drummer of The Mars Volta) another favorite band of mine. Jon Theodore has always been considered one of the best drummers to me yet One Day As A Lion's improvised blend of rock and hip hop speaks volumes to how even in simplicity, complexity can be attained.

This record shows Zack's influence in Rage as being more than just a lyricist. The perseverance of gritty style and minimalist aggression is very much encapsulated in this record. Instead of falling into abstract musical ideas, a focused, cohesive work is presented here, just unpolished enough to keep your feet cemented to the pavement. It kind of sounds like it was recorded in a garage or basement, much like Rage's first album. I love its rawness.

"If You Fear Dying" pulses like a hot summer day, seething through the synths and burgeoning drums. "Ocean View" comes in like a buzz saw, while "Wild International" takes early 90s hip hop drums and a radio hum. This project unifies two voices and cannot be categorized in any simple terms, but then again, isn't that the point? One Day as a Lion does let its members have their respective roars, but unified, the project speaks volumes - great start of something, I hope to see more. My one complaint is that it is too short.

2. The Bedlam in Goliath by The Mars Volta

On their fourth studio album, The Mars Volta have definitely decided not to take it easy. From the very moment it starts until its ending 75 (!) minutes later, the band works in full steam ahead hyper-drive mode, rarely stopping for breath. One could be halfway through the album before realizing the first track is even over. On the upside, it shows a band determined to prove they're now the hardest working men in show business. Although working with the same prog-punk blueprint they've been developing over the years, here they seem to reject the more jam-band approach of Frances the Mute or Amputechture.

All of the songs on the new album fall below the ten-minute mark, which for them is concise (disgruntled fans of the first album may want to check this one out). Their love of latin rhythms continues, however, aided ably by new drummer Thomas Pridgen, who gives the impression he's actually two men. The twin guitar attack of Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and (former Chili Pepper) John Frusciante, while using every style they can think of (including feedback noise), here they at least stick to the song at hand. This is not to say they're not coloring outside the lines, but they play it at such light-speed that the impression one gets is of Miles Davis' On the Corner interpreted by meth-addled robots.

Meanwhile, vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala sticks mainly to the upper registers of his voice and lets the words tumble out at such a rate that a lyric sheet is necessary to know what they are. The Bedlam in Goliath is another Mars Volta concept album about a seemingly cursed Ouija board that the band acquired in Jerusalem, brought home to their studio and subsequently fucked up everything. Hey, I don't make the news; I just report it. If any of this sounds a bit daunting, that's probably because it's supposed to be. The Mars Volta obviously don't appeal to casual listeners; in fact, die hard Rush or Tool fans may even run screaming from the room.

One of their major inspirations, Carlos Santana, would probably also be baffled. Still, if you're already a fan of the band, or just want to test your fortitude as a music fan, this is the album you've been longing for. This is no return to the form of their earlier work but another creative level entirely. With their maximum-firepower approach, if The Mars Volta aren't the best band ever, they're certainly one of them.

3. Kala by M.I.A.

To understand what makes Kala succeed so brilliantly is to realize why so many anti-war albums fail. Exhorting a message is easy. Getting people to sit up and pay attention is a much more formidable task. I think M.I.A. said it the best when she talked about the fusion of politics into her music. "Nobody wants to be dancing to political songs. Every bit of music out there that’s making it into the mainstream is really about nothing. I wanted to see if I could write songs about something important and make it sound like nothing. And it kind of worked." Kala sets itself apart by pulling off the neat hat trick of sounding both urgent and joyous - something that the Sri Lankan M.I.A. (aka Maya Arulpragasam) managed to do with 2005's Arular, but which gets presented here to an incredible new extent. Perhaps Arulpragasam became a musician to push a point, but Kala is better poised for a club than for brow-furrowing headphone listening or a street protest; it is music first, a message second.

Surely, Kala is some of the most exciting world-electronica fusion the United States has heard since, well, Arular. The production on "Bird Flu" is so chillingly perfect that you might forget that the song has no melody to speak of. Here and elsewhere, M.I.A. exploits the universal and pleasurable properties of percussion to draw us into Kala's world; unless you actually live there, your knowledge of Sri Lankan music is probably nil, and M.I.A. is the most accessible guide one could hope for. Tribal drumming and modern-day electro exist alongside each other as naturally as oil and vinegar, while M.I.A. plays to and uproots our expectations by taking world music clichés and turning them on their heads, whether it's the hilarious pygmy-like shouts in the war-paint-covered "Bird Flu" or the ersatz strings in the 1982 Bollywood cover, "Jimmy". If anything, Kala hammers home Sri Lanka's status as a hotbed of multiculturalism. Its music is African, Indian, Middle Eastern, British and wryly American all at once, and I can imagine no better environment for an anti-war cry than one in which musical styles coexist this peacefully.

M.I.A.'s exhortation strategy is fresh, uncommon, and sledgehammer-blunt. "Fight on!", the album cover shamelessly reads, and it's clear that M.I.A. considers a move toward peace as literally that: a mobilization that requires as much force as soldiers are willing to devote to a war. Her fight-fire-with-fire approach results in music that's more bracing and confrontational than Arular while still avoiding sounding militaristic, instead coming off like a cheer-leading squad that means deathly serious business. M.I.A.'s voice often feels like a drum, pounding away about the price of AK-47s in Africa, forgoing a fashion career for the sake of protest, being hassled about immigration papers and what it might be like to blow up the fighters in her dreams. She stands above the dreck as a paragon of self-confidence, while even allowing some humor to peek through on "Boyz": "How many no money boyz are crazy, how many boyz are raw? / How many no money boyz are rowdy, how many start a war?" (The `z's aren't there for nothing.) Of course, when Nigerian M.C. Afrikan Boy reproachfully spits, "You think it's tough now? Come to Africa" on "Hussel," we don't dare laugh.

Perhaps most phenomenal is how M.I.A. made a better album than Arular by grabbing the reins herself. For Kala, she aligned herself with UK house producer Switch, whose relatively hands-off approach allowed M.I.A. to have a greater say in the production and arrangements than she had on Arular (heretofore considered DJ Diplo's album above all). It shows; Kala sounds like the album M.I.A. wanted to make, all the way down to the slinky swamp song "The Turn." In fact, "Come Around" is the only track I can think of in which Timbaland's foray behind the boards actually makes the song less interesting than what surrounds it. If M.I.A. wasn't an international superstar before Kala's release, she likely will be and certainly deserves to be; this is her album, reflective of her vital personality and compelling statement of purpose at every single turn. In an era riddled with ghostwriting, lip-synching, showboating and O-Town, few recording artists alive are less deserving of M.I.A.'s own namesake than M.I.A.

4. In Rainbows by Radiohead

Could Radiohead's seventh album have come at a more appropriate time? Arriving on the heels of the major labels' ugly jury trial victory against a file-sharer (Jammie Thomas from Brainerd, Minn., was fined $222,000 for sharing 24 songs), In Rainbows is poised to drive a large nail in the RIAA's coffin and begin the "Industry vs. Internet" discussions anew. "It used to be just [having a release] on a major label was a source of prestige and status," said Danny Goldberg, former CEO of Warner Bros. Records and Mercury Records. But that was before Napster, blogs, Myspace, esteemed indie labels, album leaks, YouTube and Tower Records' Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Slowly but surely, the industry-induced barrier between music and listeners continues to erode.

When Radiohead asked fans to name their own price for the download-only version of In Rainbows (£0 was an option), I initially interpreted it as a moral conundrum, a test to see how much they would pay for something they could buy on CD for $18.95. Yet that tiny but powerful phrase on the order screen, "It's up to you," seemed only to be the band's way of lowering the aforementioned barrier by placing control in the customers' hands, and another means of connecting with the millions of people who connect so strongly with them.

In Rainbows is bound to resonate with listeners, but not in the way you'd expect. It's warm and inviting, densely layered even at a crawl, and surprisingly mellifluous. It isn't that Radiohead veers away from the function they've served since OK Computer (inverting their internalized anxiety with tropes and imagery), they've just found prettier ways to do it, and fans that have already heard the record consistently speak about the music above all else. The first sounds to flow out of the speakers are Phil Selway's serpentine drums, as though Selway were hitting the heads with live wires. Yorke's opening line, "How come I end up where I started? / How come I end up where I belong?" sounds a bit out of place alongside the Greenwood brothers' comforting guitar-bass interaction and Selway's fluid drum patterns, but when Yorke repeats it near the end, "15 Step" has morphed into a frustrated, minor-key Insides song for the 2000s, burning with repressed energy, and everything makes sense.

Radiohead pays careful attention to their openers as scene-setters, and if In Rainbows can be distilled down to a single track, "15 Step" would arguably be it. Here and elsewhere, conflicting emotions meld together into a dizzying, dazzling tableau, as the chemistry between the band and their technology-wielding producer Nigel Godrich only continues to improve. "Body snatchers" finds all of them locked in a tight guitar-led groove that threatens to fly off the handle but dexterously maintains its equanimity, like the rocking midsection of "Paranoid Android" without the acid-tipped barbs. It's nicely followed by "Nude," the dreamy comedown that Yorke actually performed in the late '90s and might have ended up on Kid A. In fact, several songs here date to various points in the 2000s, but In Rainbows sounds anything but cobbled together; clearly, Radiohead has gone to some length to fit the larger pieces of the puzzle as seamlessly as the elements in the songs themselves. Even "Faust Arp" - somewhat insubstantial on its own - works as a fine bridge between In Rainbows' two halves.

"Weird Fishes/Arpeggi" is Radiohead at their most conventionally gorgeous, its stacked arpeggios from Yorke's guitar and Johnny Greenwood's Ondes Martenot keyboard pouring themselves over the track like so much nectar. Though Yorke's darkly imaginative language pops up here, the backing music is so dulcet that getting "eaten by the worms, weird fishes" may just be a metaphor for falling in love. Such smoothly executed dualities are all over In Rainbows: "Jigsaw Falling Into Place" is both upbeat and slightly sinister, while the song's protagonist watches the club she's in become blurry and finds herself caught between dancing and running away. In "House of Cards," Yorke intones, "I don't want to be your friend / I just want to be your lover" over the album's most spring-like guitar lick. That Radiohead is now easier than ever to enjoy on casual listens is actually a big reason why they remain fascinating under the microscope.

I might say that In Rainbows is fairly smooth going the whole way through, were it not for "Videotape." I surmise that much will be written about this song, since it harkens back to vintage Radiohead closers ("The Tourist," "Motion Picture Soundtrack"), but also because - unlike the rest of the album - it's spare and direct and heartbreaking, the way Cat Power's You Are Free became more devastating the fewer instruments she used. A lone piano plays in empty space, soon joined by Yorke: "When I'm at the Pearly Gates / This will be on videotape." And over the course of the song, instruments and voices conjure a soft lament while the drums grow increasingly warped, like the tracking bars on some forgotten VHS carrying a precious memory. For better or for worse, Yorke and his band are back where they started yet wholly in their element and of their moment.

5. Raw Footage by Ice Cube

Who knew that the chubby, jheri curled kid that debuted on Straight Outta Compton would hang around for another 20 years and still make quality music? I sure didn't. Cube has carved out a pretty stellar resume' for himself. His latest offering, Raw Footage, may not be on par with some of his best work, but it's a solid release that adds to his legacy at a point in his career when most rappers with the same amount of years in the game usually wind up hurting their legacy. (*cough* LL Cool J *cough*) Raw Footage, in short, is pretty much the old Cube over updated production. In some cases, that's a good thing. In other cases, not so much. There are strong cuts that feel like vintage Cube - like "Stand Tall" and "Why Me", for example. The production can be hit or miss in spots, but it's a worthwhile listen for the most part. The overall vibe is similar to Laugh Now, Cry Later, but the lyrics are a little more hard hitting and political. Which is what I have always loved about Cube.

As far as flaws, the Young Jeezy assisted "I Got My Locs On" is terrible on every front from the lyrics to the production. I will be the first to admit I don't like the new type of 'Southern Rap' that has been dominating the charts and radio waves as of late. When I think 'Southern Rap' I think The Geto Boys or OutKast. As a matter of fact, I think it's the production on some tracks that makes the album stumble when it does - Cube over southern style beats doesn't really work that well. For me at least.

Raw Footage shows that Cube still has a spark left in him, but the herky jerky production keeps the album from reaching maximum potential. Ice Cube carries this album with lyrics that show that he still has the sharp tongue and wit that made him popular in the first place. The good definitely outweighs the bad in this case, so I'd have to say that Raw Footage is definitely purchase worthy and so is his previous release. Thanks goodness he moved away from what he was trying to do with the War & Peace discs. I recommend checking this one out.

6. Oracular Spectacular by MGMT

This album has single-handedly renewed my faith in this generation (music wise). For the last seven years or so, it seems like less and less original and intelligent music has been made, as mindless booty-shaking pop became the standard in every genre from r&b to indie rock.

MGMT's album takes those cultural trends breathes in new life and soul. it's a whirlwind tour through the musical fringes of the 70s, 80s and 90s, all permeated with a psychedelic haze that recalls Jane Fonda's freakish science fiction film Barbarella. But unlike Blur's rockumentary style albums, Oracular Spectacular is not a historical showcase but an intensely personal vision.

what really makes this album, tho, is not just the seemless blend of electronic, psychedelia, new wave and funk, but the insightful and even poetic lyrics. listen carefully and you might learn something. I know I did.

7. Third by Portishead

Upon my first listen or two of Third, I didn't think it was that much of a progression from their debut, Dummy, nor their self-titled sophomore album. But I've come to realize I was ever so wrong.

The dark, sexy vibe that Portishead pulled off before is now just, well, dark. Extremely eerie, and very sinister. Their music used to sound like something you'd hear in a smoky and dingy underground club at 3 a.m. with others around smoking, talking, and maybe even dancing. Third sounds like something you'd listen to alone in a dark and musty basement of an abandoned building with one hanging light bulb flickering on and off.

There is definitely a Silver Apples influence here, and it makes me salivate. I love the Silver Apples, but Portishead takes their template and adds Beth's vocals and more developed songwriting, and creates something beyond anything the Silver Apples ever did.

It's difficult to try and describe the emotions this album evokes. It's dark, but it's not depressing. It's strangely comforting, but in a cold way.

I really want to point out some highlights, but I don't know what I'd exclude. Every single song on Third grows on me more and more upon further listens. I suppose I'll say that "Nylon Smile," "The Rip," "Plastic," "We Carry On," "Machine Gun," and "Threads" are the songs that particularly stand out to me.

Many times an album like this comes out that wears its influences on its sleeve, and its easy to downplay it because it will "never be like the original." But honestly, this blows much of its influences out of the water.

8. Death Magnetic by Metallica

It took almost 3 years to make this record but it was worth the wait. Producer Rick Rubin did a great job encouraging them to go back to their roots and release an album with the traditional thrash metal sound.

Here we have 10 great songs, good vocals, good drums and bass and excellent guitar solos. Kirk got his revenge on this one after a decade of silence. Songs like 'the day that never comes', 'Suicide & Redemption' and 'the judas kiss' are classics like 'One' and 'Master of Puppets'. This record competes with their 80's masterpieces like Justice, Puppets and lightning. Black album was a decent and successful record but this is definitely better.

The true Kings of metal are back!

9. Ghosts I-IV by Nine Inch Nails

I'll keep it short and simple. If you like industrial music or instrumentals, this is for you. This album uses piano and a wide variety of other instruments and technology. This album is perfect for relaxing to, or if you're like me, I often listen to it while writing to get the juices flowing. Reznor has always produced some of the best instrumentals. I loved the Still album, but it was so short I wished there'd been more. This is exactly what I wanted. Some of the pieces are more synth and beat based, others being more focused on somber piano and strings. None of the tracks have names, just numbers. My favorites are Disc 3: Track 4, Disc 4: Track 1, and Disc 4: Track 7. They evoke a strange wave of emotion that's hard to describe, if you remember "Adrift and At Peace" and "Leaving Hope" from the Still album, its kinda like that. This probably isn't the best album for Metal/Industrial fans, but if you like classical, ambient or game music this would be right up your alley. Reminds me of the Silent Hill video game soundtracks provided by series composer Akira Yamaoka. Really well done. I recommend it.

10. Rockferry by Duffy

Simply tremendous talent and a very addictive sound. Along with M.I.A.'s Kala and Arular, this album has been in heavy rotation for me for weeks, and the more I listen to it, the more I LOVE it. At first I was attracted to just a handful of songs ("Rockferry", "Warwick Avenue", "Syrup and Honey" and the radio-ready hit "Mercy"), but now I love about 90% of the songs. While most of the songs discuss heartbreak and breaking up, each song has a distinct personality that speaks to Duffy's versatility. "Rockferry" starts out quietly and builds to this tremendous fervor that takes your breath away. "Syrup and Honey" is one of the sexiest stripped-down blues songs I've ever heard. "Serious" sounds like a '60s poppy girl band song, but has a great feminist message (as does "Stepping Stone"). I only wish there were more songs on the album so it would last longer. Hopefully she puts out another album soon! Did I mention this girl can sing!

11. The Slip by Nine Inch Nails

If you haven't picked up this album yet, then shame on you. Not only has Trent delivered free music to his millions of minions, but he offers this limited-print version to the die-hard fans who simply can't live without a manufactured copy of his terrific work. The download was good enough for me.

As with all his music, his beautiful melodies melt together with angst-filled rhythms perfectly. He has delivered yet another timeless ballad, 'Lights in the Sky', as well as the lyrical masterpiece, 'Echoplex.' Along with these, though, there is the industrial genius we all know and love, expressing his frustrations through songs like 'Letting You' and 'Demon Seed.'

I, personally, love the album and thank Trent for continuing to produce great music and reward fans, like he did with free downloads of 'The Slip' and 'Ghosts'. I was also extremely excited to see the reunion of Trent and Robyn. Even if you have a 5mbps connection, it's worth the free download. However, I would recommend buying the hard-copy to support the amazing work he has produced.

12. Peeping Tom by Peeping Tom

This CD seems to monopolize my Car stereo ... the beats and music are top notch! Mike Patton is a musical genius. He has so many different facets to his musical style, it is basically impossible to categorize him into any one genre of music. And that to me is an amazing task for a musician to accomplish. He just seems to work overtime ... with all of his ex-bands (Faith No More, Mr Bungle, TomaHawk ... etc etc.) This without a doubt is one of his best works. Very hypnotic and grooves throughout. It's like alternative rock mixed with dark hip hop. Gotta hear it to know what I mean. MOJO and Kill The DJ are definitely two of my favs. The album features a ton of collaborations with other well respected and talented artists such as Rahzel, Dan the Automator, Massive Attack, Kid Koala, even Norah Jones! Check it out especially if you are a Mike Patton fan.

13. Gypsy Punks Underdog World Strike by Gogol Bordello

In this day of musical mediocrity, Gogol Bordello provides the energy and excitement I've been holding out for for a few years now. It's the kind of thing that when you're listening to it, you can't help but move to the beat. Putting this CD into your player is akin to walking into a Russian pub on a Friday night and everyone is drunk and having a good time and the lead singer is like a mix of Borat and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. It's fun, it's innovative, loud, and punk. But above all very different. It's also political at times and has a message.

Buy this CD if you're looking for an amazing, energetic, communal type experience. They (Gogol) are inexplicably awesome!!! You just have to hear for yourself. And if you ever get a chance to see one of their shows DON'T MISS IT! I had never gotten a chance to see them live before and was really stoked and boy, they did not disappoint. The show was very lively and Trent Reznor and company really wrecked the stage. I am always let down when a band’s performance on stage doesn’t match the energy and quality heard on their CD’s. But NIN much like Radio Head, Common, and Tool sounded just as good if not better live. That’s saying a lot because I know how hard it can be to duplicate the magic created in the studio on a live stage when it’s just you and your band mates and your instruments. You don’t have all the bells and whistles that a studio comforts you with.

Some bands I have seen in the past have put on lively shows but have sounded kind of off or not as good as they do on disc. An example would be System of a Down, who I am a big fan of. When I finally got a chance to see them live they did not sound as good as they had on my CD player or even previous performances I had seen them do on shows like “Late Night With Conan O’Brien.” I don’t know if it was the acoustics of the building or they just had a bad night, but I will say this, Slip-Knot played the same night as well as Rammstein and Mudvayne on the same stage and they sounded awesome.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying ‘System’ sounded like shit, it was cool but not as lively as I thought it would be. As I stated above I had seen several performances on video that they had did in the past and I guess I went in thinking it would be the same, but it just wasn’t as energetic and the music wasn’t as full bodied. Then again I’m not the one touring throughout the world having to do show after show after show, so who knows?

The Nine Inch Nails show tho’ also had a lot of thought and creativity behind it. Not only did the band command their instruments and Trent know how to woo the crowd, they also performed to a well timed and thought out light show that blew me away. Since I know a fair amount about lighting and performing as well as computers I know how hard it must have been to rehearse all of what I saw and then pull it off successfully in front of thousands of people. But that they did it and they did it very well!

I also like that the show took place at the forum. As I have gotten older it has become more about the music for me and less about mosh pits, smoking and drinking. Last year I went to see Rage Against The Machine and Wu-Tang Clan at the Rock The Bells concert out in the desert somewhere and I will never ever again go to one of those. Originally the concert was to take place at the NOS Events Center in Orange County, like it had in the previous year. I had attended that show and it was cool, so when the new concert was announced it was originally to take place at the same venue. However, since two of the biggest bands were going to be headlining and Public Enemy, Cypress Hill and Nas (to name a few) were also going to perform you knew it was going to be huge. I guess the Rock The Bells people got the brilliant idea that if they switched the venue from the NOS Events Center to a bigger venue (the dessert) they could sell more tickets. Which is exactly what they did. Thousands upon thousands of people showed up. So many that they had to have people park out in the dirt “lots.” Unfortunately for me I was one of those people and my car tire got punctured (but that’s another story). The stage where the artists were to perform was tiny and far away from the area were you were allowed to stand! And the TV monitors that were supposed to broadcast the show were off for some reason! You couldn’t see anything! Is that Chuck D? Then there was the heat and an abundance of drunk losers who didn’t know how to have fun unless they were drunk or in the process of drinking.

To make a long story short, the concert blew. You couldn’t see shit, you couldn’t hear shit and it was hot and filled with over priced bullshit, vomit, and drunk and high clowns. Never again. All because Rock The Bells got the brilliant idea to make as much money as possible at the expense of the customer (people like me). Had I known that the event wasn’t going to be held at the NOS Center I would have never went, but it wasn’t until after I bought the tickets that they informed me of this. It was actually a week before the concert that they dropped this bombshell in my lap. What could I do? The previous years show was cool so I figured this one would be too. Wrong!

That’s why I like the forum. It is more thought out and designed for performances. And the sound is pretty good. Plus, since it is indoors you are not allowed to get away with as much as you would at an outdoor venue. Another pet peeve I have with some bands is when they only perform their new shit and none of their old stuff. I went in thinking this would be the case at the NIN show but I was surprised when they played stuff from Pretty Hate Machine all the way on up to their latest album, The Slip. Another surprise was also how they performed several of the instrumental pieces from the Ghosts I-IV album. I love that album as it reminds me of something off of one of the Silent Hill videogame soundtracks. I was in no way expecting them to play any of that but they did and it sounded just as good as the CD. These guys played for over 2 hours solid. They only had one band open for them! Unlike some bands who have lots of “filler.” These days with money being so tight and ticket prices being so high I choose what shows I go to very carefully and this was money well spent. As I watched Trent Reznor and Co I couldn’t help but to think about the fact that this guy composes ALL of his own music in the studio and then just finds people to duplicate it live on stage. That is fuckin’ amazing! And his band members did it so well. You would think it would sound kind of off. I can’t wait to see them perform again and if they are ever in your town make sure you catch them. You won’t be disappointed. They are still touring North America.

Booze & Babies At The Alaskan Trailer Park

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_G8cYapJKXyc/SNh3i0SwstI/AAAAAAAAAI8/SAmeplHTH9U/s320/734px-Sarah_Palin_Kuwait_14.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5249076805736903378" />
For those of you who have been living in a cave for the last week, John McCain has picked his vice presidential running mate, a relatively unknown female governor from Alaska. Her name is Sarah Palin. She is a new governor of a state, whose infrastructure and population tend to suggest, outside of mining and resources, that she's more of a mayor than a governor. Before that she was a mayor of her small hometown who had half as many people in it as those who attended her acceptance speech last week.

Palin is an ultra right-wing conservative. She has called herself as "pro-life as any candidate can be." Palin, a member of the anti-choice group Feminists for Life, said during her campaign for governor that she is opposed to abortion, even in cases of rape or incest. Nice. You go Palin. I love how the Republican hypocrisy machine is always touting that they are for smaller government and are against government controlling your life, but when it comes to your body they want to tell you what to do with it. And when it comes to life they chime how valuable it is but these are the same people who love war. And they will look you dead in the face and tell you that it is okay to kill people in a war because shit happens but abortion is bad … regardless of the circumstances.

Palin claims she is supportive of contraception but she backs abstinence only "education" and is against "explicit sex-ed programs" in schools. (We see how that turned out for her and her daughter, but more on that in a minute).

She opposes same-sex marriage and supported a non-binding referendum for an Alaskan constitutional amendment to deny state health benefits to same-sex couples. There's those clever Republicans and their "small government" staying out of other peoples affairs again.

She supports capital punishment. Surprise, surprise. Again, I love how the Republican hypocrisy machine can in one swoop denounce abortion as murder but embrace the death penalty as swift justice. I guess their theory is that we should let ALL blood clots spurt out of a woman's vagina and grow up regardless of the circumstances so that we can execute them later in life IF they commit a heinous crime. Sounds very God-like.

Palin supports allowing the teaching of both creationism and evolution in public schools. See, she comes from the "world is flat" caucus and believes in talking snakes and talking burning bushes as well as magic arks that can fit two of every animal on planet earth.

You should hear some of what her former and current churches have been preaching. I doubt however since it is the good ol' boys perverse version of religion that we are talking about that they will run her through the ringer like they did with Obama and the reverend Wright "scandal." After all he's an angry black man (reverend Wright) who condemned America for their past sins and spoke black liberation theology. Ewww, scary stuff. What Palin has been sitting down listening too are sermons on how Alaska will be one of the two only states that survives in the end times and that Jews have brought upon themselves many of the terror attacks that has begotten them because … wait for the drum role … they are Jews! Yep, that's what a recent "guest speaker" at her church said. Basically being Jewish is an un-Godly religion and unless they repent bad things will continue to happen to them. There's a lot of nut job stuff coming out of both her current and former church, but since it is being preached by people who are not pointing out the sins of America but instead the sins of Israel then all is well.

Palin strongly supports an individual's right to bear arms, INCLUDING handguns and assault riffles. She is a card holding member of the NRA and is an avid hunter. Once again, murdering for sport okay, deciding to have an abortion because your uncle Ted raped you and got you pregnant, bad. I have always thought that there is something barbaric about killing shit just for the fuck of it. Remember how they gave Obama all that shit because he said some Americans "are bitter and they cling to guns and religion?" Look at the picture below and tell me he's crazy, that he didn't hit the nail right on the friggin' head …

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_G8cYapJKXyc/SNh3tlnAu1I/AAAAAAAAAJE/JZ9hzZOX0mM/s320/2-palin2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5249076990773869394" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_G8cYapJKXyc/SNigsQNdYDI/AAAAAAAAAJM/fOecWAPbz7g/s320/2-palin4.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5249122047826419762" />

Palin has promoted oil and natural gas resource development in Alaska, including in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). She has opposed federal listing of the polar bear as an endangered species warning that it would adversely affect energy development in Alaska. Those damn pesky polar bears! Damn them all! Damn them all to hell! Palin also does not believe that global warming is human-caused. Again, I bet she also believes that the world is flat and that a stork delivers children in a fuckin' basket even tho' she has squeezed FIVE of those mother-fucker's out of her sloppy pussy. And of course she supports the Bush Administration's policies in Iraq. There's that pro-life stance again. Destroying blood clots bad … destroying actual human life good!

Anyhow, it's needless to say that she is another in a long line of Republican hardliners who have been nominated to be president and/or vice president in the past. It will never cease to amaze me how people have been successfully programmed by the Republican hypocrisy machine to fear the word "liberal" and to get down right worried when they hear the statement "he is the most liberal senator ever!" As if this is frightening information or something to be feared by default. But when they nominate hard line right-wingers it's okay. You're not allowed to say, "he or she is the most right-wing person ever!" They will look you dead in the face and say so what, and they will probably win the election as they have done in the past, but if Obama or John Kerry were to ever say, "yeah, so I'm liberal … and what?" That would be it. Election lost. Absolutely brilliant.

The Republicans have really trained some people like the dogs they are. None of Palin's views and stances come as a surprise to me, however the fact that John McCain thinks people are so fuckin' stupid does. Bush thought the same thing in 2000 and 2004, but the fact that McCain thinks people are so dumb they will fall for the Jedi Mind Trick a third time is what really boils my blood. This guy and his party believe women especially are dumb. They believe women are so dumb that you can use the obvious rift that the Democrats faced during the primaries between Obama supporters and Clinton supporters to woo women over to their side. So what do they do? They throw a woman on the ticket not caring for a second that any woman with a brain in her head would be like, "wait a minute … do they think I'm this one dimensional, where I'll vote for her just because she has a vagina like me." If that isn't sexism then I don't know what is.

The pick of Sarah Palin is dripping with transparent condescension, the notion that the enthusiasm behind Hillary was simply the result of her being a woman, that it had nothing to do with what she actually stood for. Palin is essentially a hard right ideologue, and therefore nothing like Hillary as far as substance is concerned. It's not very different from running Alan Keyes against Barack Obama in 2004. The conservative media reaction has already engaged in paternalistic language, with FIX News reporting on television that "McCain broke the glass ceiling," implying in fact, that the pick had nothing to do with Palin or her qualifications, but merely her gender. It's fitting that the party positing affirmative action as a program that picks people exclusively based on race or gender rather than qualification should do something similar given an opportunity for political advancement.

Considering that Hillary Clinton's success didn't derive just from the fact that she was a woman, but that she was a strong, intelligent, experienced woman who fought for women's rights and health care for decades. Palin's not. It's a pretty cynical move, but, then again, McCain actually thinks he has a chance among Democratic Hillary supporters. And to the women who are actually thinking (and I use that word lightly) of voting for McCain/Palin just because Hillary didn't get the nomination you disgust me and you will get what you deserve. It's "women" like you who engage in gender politics and then turn around and accuse other people of it. YOU are the sexist and you belittle Hillary Clinton and reduce her to nothing more than a walking vagina. You spit in her face and say "fuck everything you stand for. Fuck your accomplishments and your political stances and beliefs, we only liked you for your gender NOT your accomplishments." Traitors! It's like these people forget that Hillary Clinton is a Democrat for a reason and that many of her core beliefs are derived and shared by the Democratic party, and Obama … NEWS FLASH … is also a member of that same party and they have pretty similar visions and goals for this country, especially when it comes to women. These disgruntled people act like Obama doesn't have a wife and two daughters! He was raised by women for Christ's sake! But he's a man and Palin's a woman, and therefore she will by default stand for women's rights, right? Wrong. Some of these Hillary supporters act like they were in love only with the image of the woman not the message. And they say some Obama supporters act like they are in a cult?

With Palin as the VP pick for McCain, he can't play the little-experience or pandering cards against Obama anymore. The McCain campaign will have to suspend its line of attack against Obama, a member of the Senate for four years and former state legislator from Illinois. In its ads, the McCain campaign slams Obama as "dangerously unprepared'' for the presidency - with Republican National Committee ads labeling Obama as "the most inexperienced candidate of our times.'' As if mayor of a town of 7,000 people is so friggin' impressive. It's like Aunt Bee is the Republican pick for VP.

In picking this lady, I understand what McCain was trying to do and it's insulting and funny at the same time. I think it was a stunt, badly played. I know he's trying to appeal to the Hillary Clinton supporters, but he's wasting valuable time and money. Why would liberal, pro-choice women warm to Palin, conservative and "pro-life," just because she's a woman? Again, I don't believe and neither does my wife that women are that one dimensional and one track minded.

This brings me to the next controversy, which just churns my fuckin' stomach to the point where I feel like vomiting and then drinking my vomit and then vomiting again. Simply put, it makes me sick. John McCain's campaign has become embroiled in the revelation that the teenage daughter of Sarah Palin, his newly announced running mate, is five months pregnant. Bristol Palin, 17, one of the Alaskan governor's FIVE children and the oldest of three daughters, is going to keep the child and marry the father, Palin and her husband Todd announced in a statement released by the McCain campaign. The statement came in the wake of swirling internet rumors that Palin, age 44, had faked her own recent pregnancy in which she supposedly had a baby with down syndrome to cover up the fact that it was indeed her daughter's baby, as Democrats began to sense that there might be more to emerge about the past of the Republican vice-presidential pick.

Since the announcement that this self proclaimed "hockey mom" and "pit bull with lipstick" has a pregnant teenage daughter who she obviously can't control broke, both the McCain camp and Obama camps have said "it's a private matter and children should not be involved in politics." Normally, I would agree, but NOT in this circumstance - no way, no how. Michelle Obama has been under a fuckin' microscope from the moment Barack announced he was running for president and so has every freakin' family member he has including his pastor. So why would a "woman" who is pushing the teaching of abstinence on other people's children and who touts what a great "hockey mom" she is not be held accountable when her 17 year old daughter gets knocked up? Possibly twice!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_G8cYapJKXyc/SNihV-IFu1I/AAAAAAAAAJU/XJwxq3yLvbc/s320/baby-bristol-palin-party-217x400.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5249122764526566226" />

Let's further examine this trailer park activity. Upon being accused by the Daily Kos of NOT being the mother of 4-month-old Trig (the baby with down syndrome), and accused of covering for her then 16-year-old daughter by claiming the child as her own, VP candidate Sarah Palin responds NOT by releasing run-of-the-mill medical records which would name the obstetrician, the pediatrician, the on-call anesthesiologist, the nurses - in short, records that would name the dozen or so people who would have witnessed and could attest to the truthfulness of Palin's assertion that she did, in fact, give birth to Trig on April whatever, and St. Whatever Hospital in Wherever, Alaska.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_G8cYapJKXyc/SNihi4x6W2I/AAAAAAAAAJc/5QqQ8C_HiqM/s320/trig-palin-3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5249122986429668194" />

Nope. To prove she is Trig's mother, she makes a PUBLIC statement that, in effect, only serves to make it "impossible" that her daughter Bristol is Trig's mother, by asserting that Bristol is "five months' pregnant," making it "physically impossible" that Bristol is Trig's mother. Think this through: Let's assume Palin is telling the truth: She's Trig's mother, and Bristol is five months' along. If Palin had wanted to end all speculation about her maternity, the logical, simple, and irrefutable thing to have done would have been to release her own medical records, which would have provided virtually indisputable proof of the fact that she - and not Bristol - was the mother of that child.

And in releasing these records, she could easily have SPARED her daughter the embarrassment of being outed on an international scale as a "fornicator," and a teen mother. In other words, Bristol's current pregnancy is entirely irrelevant to Palin's authenticity as Trig's mother. So if she's telling the truth and can prove it, why bring Bristol into it at all? Why throw your pregnant, teenage daughter under the bus and international scrutiny if you don't have to, if there's another simple, honest way to end the potentially damaging speculation? The simple answer is there is no good reason. So all those folks saying this is a personal family matter and should not be reported on, give me a freakin' break. Palin, not the media put her own daughter out there. And then she made the boyfriend and baby daddy come on stage with her daughter at the Republican National Convention, blatantly condoning this behavior. By the way, the alleged father is Levi Johnston also a teenager 18 years old, who has been dating Bristol for about A YEAR as reported by locals in Levi's hometown of Wasilla, Alaska. Take a good look at these two and tell me that parenting isn't virtually non-existent when it comes to these two's parents.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_G8cYapJKXyc/SNiiRZblFnI/AAAAAAAAAJ8/bNpoc1xFvgE/s320/bristol-palin-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5249123785468352114" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_G8cYapJKXyc/SNiiLgGhxlI/AAAAAAAAAJ0/UEcBV2sSIdg/s320/b.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5249123684179887698" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_G8cYapJKXyc/SNiiGhH2SjI/AAAAAAAAAJs/98M-cjZCY5Q/s320/bristol-palin-guns.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5249123598554516018" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_G8cYapJKXyc/SNih_zMY8TI/AAAAAAAAAJk/V8rNTomSf5Q/s320/TeenDadLeviJohnston.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5249123483146318130" />

I am so sick and tired of these hypocritical Republicans and their self-righteous bullshit that they wear on their sleeves like the American flag lapel pins they so adamantly now tout as true patriotism and the way they act as if they and they alone are the party of morals … but whenever they get caught doing the nastiest of things, the most inhuman things, or simply the same sins they condemn others for they turn around and cry fowl and say, "this is personal … a family matter … it's off limits." When Barack said he couldn't throw his minister under the bus because their relationship went back several years and it was a personal matter, the Republican hate machine tried to destroy him and make it sound as if the decisions of Reverend Wright were the decisions of Barack Obama and the two were inseparable.

When Bill Clinton got caught getting his dick sucked and sticking cigars into women's pussies the Republican hate machine tried to impeach this man with no mercy and no compassion and when he begged to keep the matter private and deal with it with the people that mattered, his wife and daughter, NOTHING was out of bounds or off the table. Chelsea was still a teenage girl when they lambasted all of Bill Clinton's so called "filthy behavior" on national TV every single fucking day, and they didn't feel an ounce of sorrow for Chelsea, Hillary, Bill, or the millions of American's watching this Republican hit parade. When Eliot Spitzer got caught fucking prostitutes they jeered and Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly and the other Republican propagandists reported on every possible detail of the scandal, no matter how minute or irrelevant.

When John Edwards got caught cheating on his wife that was it. Game over! His political career was done in one swoop. No redemption. I remember how the Republicans smirked and cheered that the champion for poor people's rights got caught doing the nasty. He was a sinner, a fornicator, and worst of all he did it while Elizabeth Edwards was under-going cancer treatment! They kept shoving cameras in both John and Elizabeth's faces asking, "how does this make you feel? Are you going to divorce him? Aren't you dying of cancer?!" Nothing was off the table. There was no compassion, no sympathy, no thought of what this was doing to their family. As a matter of fact during the Democratic primaries when it was revealed that Elizabeth Edwards had cancer they kept shoving microphones and cameras in her face asking her if her husband really should be running for president when he has a sick wife that he should be at home taking care of. But it's out of bounds when people ask the same question of Sarah Palin.

Shouldn't you be at home talking care of your FIVE children, one of which has special needs and the other which is a teenager and pregnant? Obviously she has no fuckin' supervision. Right away right-wing women began screaming sexism when people suggested that perhaps it would be in Palin's kids best interest for her to stay at home and do the "hockey mom" thing. "That's totally out of bounds," the McCain campaign cried, but it was okay when John Edwards and Elizabeth Edwards both said that they thought it was best for him to run for president even tho' she was in poor health. People still attacked him and called him insensitive and every other name under the rainbow, but now when we ask the same question of Palin … should she be running when she has FIVE children to take care of … the subject NOW becomes obscene and offensive.

Year after year after year we get these Republican and right-wing conservative hypocrites that tout family values and Godly morals, while they bash, hate, discriminate, and try to alter the rights of everyone else who doesn't agree with or live the way they supposedly live, but year after year after year these same people who hold themselves up to a higher plain are the ones who get caught doing the very things they condemn others for.

Take these hypocrites for example:

Mark Foley - The crime: Sending sexually laced, gramatically challenged instant messages and e-mails to teenage boys in the Congressional page program for more than 10 years. The hypocrisy: Chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children. One of the foremost opponents of child pornography in the Senate.

Ted Haggard – The crime: Paying male prostitutes for sex and snorting crystal meth. The hypocrisy: A powerful force in the evangelical movement, Haggard participated in weekly meetings with President George Bush and top advisors where he gave spiritual advice. He taught that homosexuality was an abomination and actively lobbied against gay rights.

Larry Craig – The crime: Soliciting sex from an undercover cop in an airport bathroom. The hypocrisy: Craig twice voted against adding the words "sexual orientation" to the federal hate crimes law. Craig also voted to give states the right to refuse to recognize gay marriage – a right they already had, but the Senator wanted to really, really prove he didn't like gay people.

Bob Allen – The crime: Offering an undercover cop $20 to allow Allen to suck his dick in a men's room in a public park. After being arrested, Allen tried to explain that he only offered to blow the cop because the cop was a "burly black man" and he "didn't want to become a statistic." The hypocrisy: Allen was one of 21 Florida legislators to sign Gov. Jeb Bush's friend-of-the-court brief supporting the state's ban on gays adopting children, and he co-sponsored an unsuccessful bill that would have enhanced penalties for "offenses involving unnatural and lascivious acts" such as indecent exposure.

Glenn Murphy Jr. – The crime: Murphy got a fellow Young Republican drunk and then spent the night at his house. The other young man woke up in the middle of the night to find Murphy giving him mouth-to-penis resuscitation. After this incident, a 1998 sexual battery report came to light in which Murphy was alleged to have done the exact same thing before. The hypocrisy: Murphy was a well-paid political consultant for Republican candidates and often advised them to use gay marriage as a wedge issue to paint their opponents as out of touch with traditional values.

Look how the "conservative" propagandist machine condemned Jamie Lynn Spears and her parents for lack of parenting, as well as Hillary Clinton for playing the "gender card" but flipped the coin when it was one of their own:

If Sarah Palin wasn't a crusader of abstinence only programs and wasn't a member of mean and vindictive groups who peddle hate and insincerity to others who might not necessarily agree with her views but who are persecuted none the less, I wouldn't be writing this blog. I wouldn't have a fuckin' thing to say about her or her dysfunctional family. But the fact that she wants to pass legislation to alter other people's families and curb other people's rights is what has pushed me to write this blog.

If Palin had her way she would strip ALL women of the right to make the CHOICE of if they should have an abortion or not. If they should use birth control pills or not. If they should have a baby or not. If your daughter or son should have ACCESS to condoms from the school nurse or not. Now this women is in a potentially dangerous position. She could potentially become vice president. So she MUST be judged for her actions. What are her actions you say? She is a TERRIBLE MOTHER first and foremost. And I don't care how you frame it, I don't care how the media frames it, I don't care how other dysfunctional women frame it, she is a TERRIBLE MOTHER. She like many stupid parents out here today living in fantasy land are sending their teenage kids out into the real world unprepared. That alone should be a crime. YOU ARE NOT A PARENT IF YOU FAIL TO PREPARE YOUR CHILDREN FOR THE REAL WORLD. That is the entire idea behind being a responsible parent. It is no accident that Bristol Palin got knocked up. Now that very girl's mother is condoning her keeping the baby and forcing her to mary a stupid teenage boy she barely knows. What message does this send to Palin's other daughters and worst yet to all of the other American children watching this trailer park soap opera unfold.

And this is "small town" America folks – it's not even the big city. Since I was a kid I've always known one thing for sure, if you have a baby before age 18 you are a fuck-up. Just like if you are a male and you end up in prison. If your parents don't teach you about protection and contraceptive's and you have a baby they are TERRIBLE parents. And if they condone it by letting you play house then they nor you can claim to be a child and you should not be able to use that as an excuse to hide from the media. If you want to spread your little pussy like a grown woman, then goddamit be a fuckin' grown women. All I know is that if Barack had a 17-year-old daughter and she got pregnant by some guy named Levi that would be it. His campaign would be over. No one and I mean no one, would embrace him or Michele. They would condemn them both as terrible parents and condemn their slutty African-American daughter – because you know folks, only Latino and Black girls have babies before they are 18 out of wedlock! (That's sarcasm by the way).

Sarah Palin and company have made the CHOICE that Bristol should have the baby, Levi should wed her, and they should all be one happy dysfunctional family. Sarah Palin made a CHOICE to have FIVE fuckin' kids. Why on earth someone would want five children is beyond me, but some people smoke crack and I have yet to get answers to why they do that, so I guess it remains one of life's mysteries. I guess there isn't much else to do in Alaska except fuck, drink and kill shit, and rant and rave about what rights you want to take away from other people who don't want to be degenerate fuck-ups.

Sarah Palin also had a CHOICE when she decided to tempt fate and have another child at the age of 44! She made a life altering decision. If she was not aware of the risk of having a Downs Syndrome child at her age, she is NOT ready to make any decisions on the national level. It is well documented that older women face many risks when becoming pregnant. And now she leaves this baby to run around the country chasing after a job she is not even suited for. Wouldn't you think this conservative Republican, who touts "family values," should put her needs aside for a while and stay home with her baby? There's family values for you. How the hell can you run around the country running for a national ticket and take care of a baby with special needs? Are we going to hear from the conservative groups denouncing her for that? So far, everyone keeps saying that this choice is going to delight the conservative base and bring pro Hillary women over to the Republican dark side. I think Sarah Palin should be at home with her children, not because she's a woman, but because she chose to spread her fuckin' legs and pop out FIVE fuckin' children. These are all CHOICE'S she made and since we live in a democracy I can't make her stay at home with her kids, she is FREE TO MAKE HER CHOICES on what she feels is best … but she wants to take away other women's rights to make CHOICES to do what they see fit with THEIR BODIES and THEIR LIVES. This is the coup de grace.

I also love how they (the Republicans) keep touting that she is so pro-choice that she chose to keep her baby even after she found out it had Downs Syndrome. WTF? Either you want to have a baby or not. This bitch shouldn't be commended just because the baby has special needs and she chose to keep it. Does she want a fuckin' dog biscuit for keeping her own child? What's really pathetic is that once again she's using another one of her kids as a political pawn. If you ask me I think the Downs Syndrome baby is the only smart one in that entire fuckin' family.

I am a strong believer that you shouldn't judge others unless you want to be judged and that if you are going to hold yourself to a certain moral standard then you must walk the walk. Abstinence only is a stupid fuckin' idea. And since the Bush administration and the right-wing hypocrites have pushed those programs and taken sexual education off the table as a tool to prepare young people to make THE RIGHT DECISIONS, teenage pregnancy rates continue to rise. According to figures released by the US Centers for Disease Control late last year, teen birth rates in the US rose to 41.9 births per 1000 girls in 2006. That's the first increase in 14 years.

Most people right about now probably think I am being way too harsh in saying Palin is a TERRIBLE mother, but look at the photos below of her daughter Bristol and ask yourself after seeing these pictures and knowing a little bit of Sarah's ideologies if you still think she is a good mom.

Yeah boozing it up is pretty standard for a seventeen year-old, especially in Alaska where it seems like there ain't shit to do but fuck and drink, but damn … if your mom is a politician don't be dumb enough to have your ish posted online.

Look really carefully … this pregnancy isn't an isolated incident, this is standard behavior. When I was a teenager I would have NEVER gotten away with the shit this little twat is getting away with in these photos and I'm a fuckin' guy. It only leads me to believe one of two things. Either Sarah Palin condones this type of behavior OR she has been to busy running around playing politics to raise her children properly. Not only is Sarah Palin a TERRIBLE mother she's also under investigation for ethics violations and having people fired because they refused to fire people whom she wanted fired because they "broke" her sisters heart.

It's pretty clear that Sarah Palin and her daugter Bristol agree with John McCain on many things, especially his stance on off-shore drilling - at least when it comes to their vagina's ... they want you to drill here and drill now!

By the way, a woman was already put on the presidential ticket back in 1984 - she was a Democrat and her name was Geraldine Ferraro.

One Long Day

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_G8cYapJKXyc/SNgsYTPCznI/AAAAAAAAAI0/NLehdUOlewM/s320/mainbanner.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5248994161692167794" />

Mailman turned filmmaker delivers bloodbath with "ONE LONG DAY"

While Uwe Boll's controversial movie "Postal" was recently released on DVD, a real mailman turned filmmaker tweaks his independent violent revenge film "One Long Day" for its world premiere at a Las Vegas casino in December.

Keith Mosher, who is writing a book on his film’s journey from dream to screen, has spent the past five years as a Las Vegas city carrier for the United States Postal Service working 11-hour shifts. Stuck in the rut of his job, Mosher decided to do something about it. Instead of arming himself and "going postal," Mosher picked up a camera.

So while he still made sure to deliver mail to residents of Sin City, the 37-year-old has also been busy working on his dark comedy/action film "One Long Day" when he's off the clock. With a budget of roughly $3,000, "One Long Day" was shot in 28 days extending over a 12 month period, with most shooting taking place on Sundays.

The film, which is getting quite a bit of buzz online and almost guaranteed to be a cult classic, features a cast of nearly 30 players, Hollywood-esque stunts, sex, violence, guns, thugs, strippers, explosions, Jehovah’s Witnesses, ball gags, fast cars, Jesus and more.

"One Long Day" stars Dean Mauro ("Entourage," "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation"), Chris Gabriel ("21"), Rob Marrocco Jr. ("The Sopranos"), George Miklos ("Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," "V," "Hunter") and introduces pinup model Rebecca Edwards and mailman Chris Schaub. The film, shot and edited by Jason Coblentz, also features cameos by postal workers Toni Diaz, Sherm Reaper and David Sharp, film critic Chad Clinton Freeman and members of the Che’Lu motorcycle gang. Also apart of the project were stuntmen Marque Ohmes (“Half Past Dead 2”) and Jason Barker (“Cold Case”).

Schaub plays the lead character Gruff, who not only breathes fire, but also gets shot and has a 2X4 smashed over his head. The story centers around Gruff being mistaken as somebody that owes a lot of money to a crime family. When they kill his beloved pet Fluffy, all hell breaks loose as Gruff has one hell of a day seeking revenge “Desperado” style, settling the score with someone ... anyone ... everyone.

Schaub, a weightlifter and restorer of classic cars and trucks, works in the same office as Mosher and was the first person that was cast in a role.

"Almost two years before we started filming I remember telling Chris I was going to cast him in a movie one day," Mosher told PollyStaffle.com "He probably thought I was nuts, but I knew way back then, if I ever made 'One Long Day,' he would have to play Gruff. Physically, it was a no-brainer. Chris stands 6’4" and is a very imposing guy."

Currently available for pre-order on its official site, "One Long Day" will screen early scenes of the movie at the High Desert Shorts International Film Festival on November 6. The film will have its world premiere and be available on DVD in mid December.

Find out more details, by reading Keith Mosher’s Q&A with Chad Clinton Freeman at PollyStaffle.com:
http://www.pollystaffle.com/questionsandanswers/keithmosher.shtml

See the trailer:
http://www.vimeo.com/813891

Visit the film’s official site:
http://www.onelongday.com

And don’t forget to make friends with Gruff on Myspace before he comes for you:
http://www.myspace.com/onelongday_themovie

An online copy of this press release:
http://www.prlog.org/10109004-mailman-turned-filmmaker-delivers-bloodbath-with-one-long-day.html

NOTE: If you need artwork, would like to talk with Keith Mosher or be placed on a list for a screener when they become available, please email the director at Keith@OneLongDay.com

Barack to make history on a historic night.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_G8cYapJKXyc/SLchI9ZO35I/AAAAAAAAAIc/F5nSLrdwgO4/s320/art.obama.invesco.gi.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5239693129271926674" />

Tonight Sen. Barack Obama will accept the Democratic presidential nomination in front of 75,000 people on the 45th anniversary of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I have a dream" speech. Obama will become the first African-American to lead a major party's ticket for president of the United States and the western world for that matter! This is an important moment in not just the Democratic party's history, or American history, but an important moment in world history for people of all colors, socioeconomic status and religious beliefs.

His nomination represents at least a partial actualization of King's dream. Especially when you take into account that Barack was the son of a single mother who once was on welfare. He wasn't born into wealth and his parents didn't have political connections. As a kid he got to see a different perspective of the world when he lived and went to school in Indonesia. After he left Indonesia he went to live in Hawaii with his grandparents. During his later years he briefly strayed off the wrong path and experimented with drugs and got caught up with the wrong crowd, finally finding his calling by becoming a community organizer on the tough streets of South Side Chicago. He attended Harvard Law School and the University of Chicago Law School and instead of accepting one of the cushy, six figure jobs that were offered to him he chose to work for $12,000 and do community work.

During his run for president he was up against Sen. Hillary Clinton, a well-known figure with decades of political experience and a well known and respected 'brand name.' He was a relative newcomer to the political scene. (check out my previous post on the democratic primary). And he was black.
After a protracted and bitter battle, Obama came out on top, clinching his party's nomination in early June. There have been suggestions that Obama is too black or not black enough to be president which is all a reflection of how much progress is still needed to be made in America when it comes to racial attitudes and beliefs. But tonight we are taking another step in the right direction. Even though Obama's success won't change things overnight, people should not downplay its importance.

So tonight in Denver, Colorado it will be the emotional climax of this week's Democratic National Convention. Nearly 80,000 roaring supporters will be looking on as the nation's first black presidential nominee for a major party accepts the mantle. There is little doubt that Barack will thrill the crowd as he delivers a prime-time address from an elaborate midfield stage at Invesco Field, creating impressive images for potentially tens of millions of television viewers across the nation. Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, and every other person who fought for civil rights and equal rights in this country would be proud tonight. I just wish they were here to see this event. White, Black, Latino, Native American, Asian, or any race should be proud at what we have accomplished. I'm just proud to be alive at this moment and to be a part of it if only in a small way.

Obama Picks Biden As VP!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_G8cYapJKXyc/SK_LmDOURmI/AAAAAAAAAIU/dZDswFgPiEw/s320/Obama%26Biden.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5237628746215999074" />

Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama has chosen Senator Joe Biden to be his vice presidential nominee. A part of it has been de facto independent from Georgia since it declared independence as the Republic of South Ossetia early in the 1990s during the Georgian-Ossetian conflict. The capital of the region is Tskhinvali. The independence has not been diplomatically recognized by any member of the United Nations – which continues to regard South Ossetia as part of Georgia.

Georgia has retained control over parts of the region's eastern and southern districts where it created, in April 2007, a Provisional Administrative Entity of South Ossetia headed by ethnic Ossetians (former members of the separatist government) under the leadership of Dmitry Sanakoev which would negotiate with central Georgian authorities regarding its final status and conflict resolution.

To summarize a complicated matter, South Ossetia would rather be autonomous from Georgia and it would prefer to be aligned with Russia, who they feel are more in line with the policies and structure of their government.

The purpose of this post is not to take sides with either Russia or Georgia on who's wrong or who's right in this conflict, it is to illustrate how the Bush administrations flagrant disrespect for international laws and other countries sovereignty (mainly Iraq) have come back to bite them in the ass just as I expected. It doesn't matter what side of the political spectrum you stand on, left wing or right wing, democrat or republican, there is a thing called common sense and their is a thing the C.I.A. calls "blow back." Blow back is a term used in espionage to describe the unintended consequences of covert operations. Blow back typically appears random and without cause, because the public is unaware of the secret operations that provoked it.

How could anyone in there right mind, whether in the Bush administration or just a regular Joe Schmoe not foresee that Invading Iraq on bullshit grounds and trumped up charges wouldn't spur other nations into action to fulfill their imperial desires or their occupational ambitions. The preposterousness of the Bush administration makes me feel like I'm smoking crack ... something I have never done but can only image would make my head spin the way it is now. King George and Princess Rice got up on TV talking about how Russia has lost there mind and how they need to respect Georgia's sovereignty and how this is a slap in the face of democracy.

Georgie boy said the following: "The United States of America stands with the democratically elected government of Georgia. We insist that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia be respected." Then the Margaret Thatcher in training, Condoleezza Rice said "I really do believe that the Russians understand that pushing the envelope here would have significant consequences for Russia's standing in the international system." As if Russia gives two flying fucks about any of that. Didn't the government foresee that this type of thing was inevitable. The moment the US began carpet bombing Iraq and kicking in doors under the guise of fighting terrorism, Russia, China, India and every other power player began drawing up war plans for countries they feel are 'state sponsors of terrorism.' Remember when Turkey decided to go into Iraq to 'pursue' the P.K.K. rebels that they claimed keep attacking their country, the US couldn't really say anything, except, "fuck ... out of all the things to happen."

Turkey is now still operating in Iraq and has set up shop and are now refusing to leave. The difference in that situation is that the P.K.K. rebels really have committed terrorist acts against their country (Turkey). What goes around comes around, people! Every country who has imperial desires or ambitions can now claim that the terrorist over there want to hurt us over here and therefore we MUST take preemptive action to prevent that. So you can't complain when the shoe is on the other foot.

There is a side note to this as well that many people simply do not know. Since 2002, the US has been in 'talks' with Poland and other European countries over the possibility of setting up a European base to intercept long-range missiles. Poland's prime minister Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz said in November 2005 he wanted to open up the public debate on whether Poland should host such a base. The US started formal negotiations with Poland and the Czech Republic concerning construction of missile shield installations in those countries for a Ground-Based Mid course Defense System.

According to press reports the government of the Czech Republic agreed (while 67% Czechs disagree to host a missile defense radar on its territory while a base of missile interceptors is supposed to be built in Poland. The objective is reportedly to protect most of Europe from long-range missile strikes from Iran. The ballistic missile-defence system currently being considered is primarily designed to protect the United States.

Russia threatened to place short-range nuclear missiles on Russia’s border with NATO if the United States refuses to abandon plans to deploy 10 interceptor missiles and a radar in Poland and the Czech Republic.In April 2007, former Russian president Putin warned of a new Cold War if the Americans deployed the shield in Central Europe.Putin also said that Russia is prepared to abandon its obligations under a Nuclear Forces Treaty of 1987 with the United States.

John McCain is a strong supporter of missile defense. In October 2007, McCain said: "And the first thing I would do is make sure that we have a missile defense system in place in Czechoslovakia and Poland, and I don't care what his [Putin's] objections are to it." Speaking of McCain ... he was another one of the people that had a crack smoking effect on me when he got up on stage talking down at Russia like Mr. Big Man and touting democracy and saying big words like "sovereignty" which he obviously doesn't respect or have any clue as to the meaning of. This is the same man who said The United States military could stay in Iraq for "maybe a hundred years" and that "would be fine with me."

To show just how arrogant and nonsensical SOME of these republicans are, listen to what their presidential nominee said in response to what Iraqi Prime Minister Maliki said regarding US troops withdrawing: "I think the Iraqi prime minister's prerogative is obviously important," McCain said. "They are a sovereign country. Their wishes, I think, are going to be granted by our government. And we've created an opportunity for them to make these kinds of statements and I think that is a good thing." WTF??? He's talking like Iraq is his plaything and Maliki is his bitch and he's granting them the privilege to 'voice their opinions.'

To sum up, on July 8, 2008, The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that if the missile defense system is okayed, "we will be forced to react not with diplomatic, but with military-technical methods." So not only is the recent invasion of Georgia by Russia there way of saying to the US "if you can do it why can't we?" but it is also their way of saying, "if you even think of putting a 'missile defence shield' on our borders we will occupy the hosting countries. Plain and simple, this was a power move by Russia. A flexing of muscle. Same type of machismo bullshit King George did when he got up on TV and said, "I'm giving Saddam Hussein and his family 72 hours to leave Iraq or else." Don't believe for a second Russia hasn't been yearning to re-occupy the former soviet republics. The US actions in Iraq that followed 9/11 has given them the green light to do this, whether the US realized that or not. Just like the US support of torture will eventually come back to bite them in the ass. I just feel sorry for the US soldier who possibly ends up being captured by an enemy force in a future war and what he or she will have to endure because their country said to hell with all the agreements they signed in the past to prevent that sort of thing from happening.

The Devil Made Me Do It - New Review of "The Hood Has Eyez."

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_G8cYapJKXyc/SJsL1d2FFMI/AAAAAAAAAHc/OV4Uovsdpnw/s320/Polly+Staffle+banner_edited.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5231788405293388994" />
When filmmaker Terrence Williams tried to sell his latest movie The Hood Has Eyez on CreateSpace.com, he was turned down. “Unfortunately, we are unable to accept ‘The Hood Has Eyez’ due to its extremely disturbing graphic nature,” he was told. The rape/revenge film starring Cyd Schulte, Jesselynn Desmond and Jamielyn Kane was also originally called “just too strong” by Sub Rosa Studios, although they later released the film on DVD nationwide. And to think I was just watching "It's Bad for Ya!" the other day, laughing my ass of. He will be missed, especially by this fan. He died yesterday of heart failure, he was 71. Just last week Tim Russert passed too. What gives?

To honor his memory go out and rent any of his hilarious stand up acts or listen to some of his comedy albums, and check out some of his film appearances in movies like "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure," "Dogma," "Cars," "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back," and "Jersey Girl."

R.I.P. and live on man!
